Unitus Impact is an early-stage impact investing firm with the mission of improving livelihoods of low-income populations by supporting the growth of scalable, financially attractive businesses that engage the working poor as suppliers or distributors. We focus on innovative ventures across South and Southeast Asia.
Our investments address market inefficiencies by improving existing supply chains to unlock better economic opportunities for the working poor. UI seeks strong management teams with track records of commercial success, social awareness, and experience working with the populations they aim to serve. Our investors are family offices, institutions, and individuals who believe that scalable market-based solutions are critical in the fight against global poverty. We leverage our extensive network including the Unitus Family of entities and other strategic partners to source best in class opportunities as well as provide our entrepreneurs with the network and support they require to succeed.
After successfully proving out the livelihoods thesis through our now closed syndicate series structure, Company launched the Livelihood Impact Fund Fund in Q3 2012. We are raising a $35 - $50 million fund to invest in 15-20 innovative businesses through equity and convertible debt structures. The first close is targeted for June 2013. To date, we have received commitments for over half of the fund.
